Island Princess

islandprincesshawaii Island PrincessIn 1983, the husband and wife team of Dr. Michael Purdy and Gwendolyn Purdy moved to Maui to begin dental practice. It was also this year that the Island Princess came to be known. The Purdy’s opened a retail store that gave customers a special treat – they were able to see chocolates being hand-dipped in front of their own eyes. Due to the success and fame the Island Princess was getting, they needed to move to Honolulu in 1989 to get a bigger labor pool and for convenient shipping. In 1998, the company took a big step by acquiring a macadamia nut orchard. This made them one of the small number of companies that are able to grow, process, manufacture and distribute macadamia nuts and products.

The Island Princess macadamia nut orchard is a 1,100-acre land planted with 110,000 trees. In this orchard, macadamia nuts are grown by dedicated workers allowing them to be of finest quality. Their macadamia nuts are grown taking into account strict farming laws. They also ensure that no chemicals are used in growing these nuts.

Macadamia nuts are known for being a healthy kind of nut. They have a high monosaturated fat content which helps in lessening cholesterol. They also contain antioxidants that help in keeping the body healthy. Their oil is high in omega 3 which helps reduce the risk of heart disease.

Island Princess offers different macadamia nuts products with their chocolate covered macadamia nuts gaining the most popularity. Aside from these, they are also able to produce chocolate coffee beans and tropical wines.
