mauibrand Hawaiian Commercial and SugarThrough a sequence of mergers, the Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company was born. This all started with the partnership of Samuel T. Alexander and Henry P. Baldwin that gave rise to Alexander & Baldwin Inc. In 1882, HC&S was incorporated and in 1898, it joined the group of companies under Alexander & Baldwin Inc. In 1962, HC&S merged with Alexander & Baldwin.

The Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company has produced natural cane sugar for almost 130 years. Their plantation is supplied by an irrigation system developed by the company’s founders. This irrigation system allows water from East Maui to flow and supply water to the islands. In 1901, HC&S built the Puunene sugar mill that can hold up to 7600 tons of cane each day.

The natural cane sugar that HC&S produces is a product of many years of experience. They are handcrafted one batch at a time allowing them to keep some of their molasses. This gives the sugar a natural color and distinct flavor. HC&S prides itself in producing only the finest quality sugar as they do not use any artificial or synthetic products in making their sugars.

The Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company has given the people of Hawaii sugar that is of premium quality and they are sure to keep on giving the Hawaiian people this natural cane sugar for a long time.
